Privacy Policy
Last updated 23 September 2026
- No account, no cookies, no ads. We never sell your information.
- We keep only what the game needs, such as your nickname, answers and scores, and only for a short time.
- We count how the game is used without knowing who you are, and you can switch that off.
1. Who we are
FactClash (factclash.com) is run by Praneeth Kalluri ("we", "us"). We decide how your information is used, so we are the controller of it. Questions or requests: hello@factclash.com.
2. What we collect and why
| Information | Why we use it | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|
| The nickname you type, and your level | To run the game and show you to the other players | Rooms: deleted 24 hours after the last activity. Daily Clash: 9 days. Challenge links: 30 days. |
| Topics a host types | To write the questions for that game | With the room, 24 hours |
| Answers you type, and your scores | To check answers, show results and run leaderboards | Same as the game they belong to |
| A random ID the app creates on your device | To keep your seat if you reload, keep your Daily Clash progress, and place you on the leaderboard | On your device until you clear the site's data; on our side, with the game data above |
| Usage statistics | Daily totals such as rooms created, links opened and shares by app, plus an estimate of unique players, so we can see what works | 13 months, as totals only |
| Journey logs | The steps taken in the game, such as "opened an invite", "joined", "finished 2nd", "shared", "came back after 3 days". They are linked by a one-way scramble (hash) of the random ID, never by name, and never include your answers or nickname. We use them to make the game more fun. | 60 days |
| Question bank and answer samples | We keep the questions we write, with totals of how players did (for example how many scored zero), to improve questions and scoring. We also keep a few anonymous examples of answers for each question. They never carry a nickname or ID, and we remove emails, phone numbers and links from them. | Questions and totals: 6 months. Answer examples: 90 days, at most 50 per question |
| IP address | Our hosting provider uses it to deliver the site and keep it safe. We keep only a one-way scramble of it, to stop abuse such as spam | The scramble: 1 hour. Provider logs: a short period set by the provider |
We do not collect your email, phone number, contacts, location or payment details. Please do not type personal details, yours or anyone else's, into nicknames, topics or answers.
Our legal reasons (UK and EU)
We run the game because you asked to play (performing our service to you). We keep usage statistics, journey logs, the question bank and security records because we have a legitimate interest in keeping FactClash safe, working and fun, and we keep them small, short-lived and hard to link to you. You can object to these at any time; see section 3.
3. Usage statistics: your choice
Usage statistics and journey logs are on by default and are turned off:
- when you switch off Help improve FactClash in your profile (tap your level badge), or
- automatically, when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.
When they are off, we do not log your journey, count your visits or keep examples of your answers. We still keep the game data needed to play. We use no third-party analytics, no advertising and no cross-site tracking.
4. Who else sees your information
- Other players see your nickname and scores. After each round they see the answers given, and in live games they see how many characters you have typed. Daily Clash and challenge leaderboards show nicknames and scores.
- Service providers work for us under their terms and only for these tasks:
- Vercel Inc. hosts the site.
- Upstash Inc. runs the database.
- OpenAI writes and reviews questions. It receives only the topic a host types and the questions being prepared.
- TypeSafe checks answers. It receives the question, the key facts and the answer text, but not your nickname.
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
5. International transfers
Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, these transfers rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses and their UK equivalents.
6. Children
FactClash is a general-audience game and is not aimed at children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use it. If you are under 18, please play with a parent's or guardian's permission. If you think a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:
- show you the information we hold about you, or correct it;
- delete it;
- stop or limit using it;
- give it to you in a portable form.
You can also object to usage statistics, as described in section 3.
Email hello@factclash.com with your room code or the date you played, and we will reply within one month. Most game data is deleted automatically within days.
- UK: you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
- EU: you can complain to your local data protection authority.
- India: our grievance contact is Praneeth Kalluri at the email above.
- US (including California): you have the right to know, delete and correct. We do not sell or share personal information, and we honour Global Privacy Control.
8. Security
Everything travels over HTTPS. We store a scramble of IP addresses rather than the addresses themselves, keep data only briefly, and limit who can access it. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
9. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above, and for important changes we will show a note in the game.
